QCB - Center for Quantitative Cell Biology

The NSF Science and Technology Center for Quantitative Cell Biology is developing 4D (space and time) computer models and experiments of whole cells. We're leading the way for a new discipline - quantitative cell biology. Founded in 2023 and headquartered at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, we examine cells under normal and stressed conditions. The modeling is guided by cutting-edge experimental tools that generate datasets with unprecedented resolution of subcellular dynamics and composition. The research, education, and knowledge transfer efforts provide training methods for researchers, students, and society. QCB is funded with a US$30M five-year grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation and additional financial support from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
