During the 13th Conference of North American Tibetan Associations (NATA), held in Washington DC from August 30 to September 1, 2014, a unanimous resolution to offer a gratitude tenshug to His Holiness the Dalai Lama to celebrate his 80th auspicious birthday was passed. The prayerful request of NATA was graciously accepted. Tenshug is a ritual offering whereby devoted followers make ritual offerings to their lama, with heartfelt requests that he live an very long life, remaining among us and continue to teach and benefit us in countless ways.
Following this, the Core Organizing Committee met in Minnesota during December, 2104, and in Washington, DC, during January, 2015. These meetings discussed the organization of this grand event and plans were shaped and finalized.
