The MRC Centre for Medical Mycology is a joint investment by the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the University of Exeter.
Of all microbial pathogens of humans, fungi are the least well studied and understood. The cost of diagnosing and treating fungal infections also has major economic
impact. To tackle this urgent problem, we are advancing our understanding of, and practice in diagnostics and clinical treatment, drug resistance and design, fungal biology and pathogenesis, immunology and immunotherapy.
The vision of the MRC CMM is to facilitate innovative and world leading multidisciplinary research that will substantially advance our understanding of fungal pathogenesis and host immunity, enabling the generation and utilisation of knowledge that will improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of fungal diseases in the future.
