I have been teaching guitar professionally since 1992, when Don't Fret Guitar Instruction was established. Over the years, I have taught countless students (beginners to advanced) how to play or improve their chops. Past students include four members of PROTEST THE HERO. I am the author of four books, three on guitar and one on bass. These methods have served me very well over the years. I have never operated the way most instructors do: ten minutes to tune up, then twenty minutes to work out and scribble down a song from a recording. Everything I do is worked out in advance. If a student wants to learn a particular song that is not part of the curriculum, I will work on the song on my own time and present it to them in a professional transcription, not something that is indecipherable. I want to do what I have always done: Get students playing as quickly as possible to keep their interest alive, and to instill a love of music that will last a lifetime.
