Thinking Maps

Thinking Maps are a whole-school, brain-based approach to teaching and learning that builds foundational critical thinking, problem-solving, comprehension, and communication skills necessary for academic success. The eight Maps, which correlate to core cognitive processes, provide a common visual “language for learning” that is used across all grade levels and content areas to improve academic outcomes for students of all backgrounds and ability levels. Unlike graphic organizers, Thinking Maps are designed to tap into the brain’s natural preferences for information processing to improve retention, recall, comprehension, and critical and creative thinking.

Thinking Maps, Inc., works with K-12 schools and districts to raise student achievement levels and build teacher capacity to serve students of all backgrounds and ability levels.
