If Scotland generates nearly all its own electricity and holds 95% of the UK’s oil, why is your energy bill higher than someone in London?

Think about that for a second because once you ask that question honestly, the answers change everything.

You’ve seen the cables being laid down the east coast of Scotland. You’ve watched your electricity flow south to power English homes while your bills climb higher each year. You saw the last Scottish oil refinery, Grangemouth, shut down without a whisper of resistance from Westminster while Scunthorpe was saved with public money and special legislation. You maybe even read the McCrone Report, or heard Denis Healey admit the UK government deliberately lied about Scotland’s oil to keep us quiet. And yet—many of you still defend the Union?

This isn’t about ignorance anymore. It’s about complicity. You are no longer being fooled. You are choosing to be abused. The Union isn’t a partnership. It’s a pipeline. And you’re the resource being drained.

In 2024 and 2025, Westminster approved billions for Eastern Green Link 1 and 2 two massive subsea cables running from Torness and Peterhead to England. Their purpose? To extract Scotland’s renewable energy and sell it south, turning Scottish wind into English profit. Even worse, Scottish Power took a £600 million loan from the UK’s National Wealth Fund to build this infrastructure money we’ll pay back through our own inflated grid charges. This isn’t investment. It’s the wiring of a siphon.

Scotland generates 98.8% of its electricity from renewables. And yet we pay around £100 more per year per household than people in London. Why? Because the pricing system was built by Westminster to penalise Scotland for being remote even though we’re the engine room of the UK’s energy. We are charged more because we generate more. This isn’t policy. It’s punishment.

Grangemouth is gone. Anas Sarwar promised to keep it open. Westminster didn’t lift a finger. Not one bailout. Not one law passed. Nothing. Meanwhile, Scunthorpe was saved. Why? Because England protects what it values. Scotland is expected to surrender what little it has left.

This theft isn’t new. It’s generational.

In 1974, the UK’s own economic advisor, Gavin McCrone, wrote that an independent Scotland would be among the richest nations in Europe with a currency so strong it would be “embarrassing.” The UK classified that report for 30 years. Why? Because they knew the truth would set us free. When the truth leaked, Labour’s Denis Healey admitted they downplayed the oil “because of the threat of nationalism.” That’s not spin. That’s a confession.

And it didn’t stop there. In 2014, Project Fear told us the oil was running out. But shortly after, Rosebank was confirmed. Cambo nearly a billion barrels. Lancaster over a billion. They said the well was dry to stop you voting Yes, while they kept drilling.

Every time Scotland gets close to freedom, Westminster finds another lie.

Our oil is labelled British when it suits them and Scottish when it doesn’t. Our electricity is exported, our industries are shuttered, and our surpluses are rewritten as deficits in Treasury spreadsheets. If you still support this Union, ask yourself: what exactly are you defending?

Because this isn’t about flags. It’s not about history. It’s about theft. And if you still stand for the Union, then you’re not preserving tradition you’re endorsing a crime.

You’re not keeping Britain together. You’re keeping Scotland down.

If you have children growing up in a country rich in energy but poor in investment…
If you live in a town stripped of industry while English ones are subsidised…
If you see our natural resources exported while we’re told we’re too small, too poor, too weak…

And still you vote for this?

Then this isn’t about Britain anymore. This is about you.

You’ve picked a side and it isn’t Scotland’s.

But for the rest of us—those who believe in sovereignty, justice, and self-respect this is our time.

Scotland does not need permission to be free. It needs courage. And now it needs you.

Choose your side. Because if not now when? And if not you who?
