Описание к видео Shark Sleigh Ride in a Kayak! SevenGill Shark Fishing in Tomales Bay

This adventure started out as a simple California halibut fishing trip, but it turned into something completely unforgettable. I launched my kayak into Tomales Bay with the hopes of drifting for halibut, but instead I hooked into a massive cow shark, also known as a seven-gill shark. These sharks are powerful, prehistoric predators that roam the coastal waters of California, and hooking one from a kayak means only one thing — a full-on sleigh ride across the bay.

The fight was intense. A cow shark has raw, brute strength unlike anything else, and feeling that power pull against me in a kayak was humbling and exhilarating at the same time. This wasn’t just fishing — this was a test of patience, strength, and respect for the ocean. After a long battle, I made the decision to release the shark. For me, catch and release isn’t just about conservation, it’s also about respecting the fishery and the experience. There was no way to care for the meat properly on this trip, and letting this incredible creature swim away felt like the right choice.

The story didn’t end there. The very next day we packed up the kayaks and headed north to Timber Cove. That trip was all about rockfish fishing, and it did not disappoint. From the powerful pull of lingcod to the nonstop action of schooling rockfish, the coast delivered. It’s moments like this that remind me why I love this lifestyle so much — one day you’re being towed across a bay by a prehistoric shark, and the next you’re filling your cooler with some of the best-eating fish on the California coast.

This channel is more than just a place to watch fish being caught. It’s about the entire outdoor lifestyle:
• Kayak fishing for sharks, halibut, and rockfish in California’s bays and coastal waters
• Overlanding adventures into hidden corners of the state, from the rugged Lost Coast to the deserts and mountains
• Exploring wild and remote fishing spots like alpine lakes, hidden mountain streams, and untouched backcountry rivers
• Outdoor cooking and catch & cook meals, turning the day’s harvest into incredible campfire meals
• Camping under the stars in some of the most scenic and free places California has to offer

Every trip is an opportunity to tell a story — not just about the catch, but about the journey. From battling sharks in a kayak to scouting for overland campsites in the Sierra Nevada, to slow-cooking fresh fish over a fire in the middle of nowhere, this channel brings together fishing, camping, and overlanding into one lifestyle.

Fishing for me isn’t just about filling the cooler — it’s about connecting with nature. When you’re paddling a kayak through the fog of Tomales Bay, chasing halibut, or waiting for a bobber to drop in a hidden mountain stream, you feel part of something bigger. When you’re off-roading deep into the Lost Coast with no cell service, no crowds, and nothing but your rig, your gear, and the open road, you find adventure. And when you turn the day’s catch into a meal in the backcountry, you create memories that last forever.

I want this channel to inspire others to get outside, to try something new, and to experience the wild side of California. Whether it’s your first time kayak fishing for halibut, chasing sharks for the thrill, or packing your overland rig for a weekend in the mountains, there’s a place here for you. This is about real outdoor adventure — not staged, not fake, just honest moments from the water and the road.

If you’re into:
• Kayak fishing for sharks, halibut, rockfish, lingcod, and striped bass
• Overlanding the Lost Coast, Sierra Nevada, and remote coastal camps
• Exploring hidden creeks, rivers, and mountain streams for trout
• Catch & cook fishing trips with outdoor cooking over campfires and portable grills
• Camping in free, off-grid, and scenic locations
• Living the adventure lifestyle with fishing, cooking, and exploring combined

Then you’ll feel right at home here.
