The Director of the Chateau Liberté documentary film W.J. McKay plays guitar with his lifelong friend Len Callo of the Bay Area blues band LenCat. Callo and McKay became friends in the 1960's, started jamming together in the 1970's and have made contributions to each other's various music and video projects throughout the decades. The two spent time at the Chateau Liberté in the late 1970's so this blues jam was actually a nostalgic celebration of a lifetime of music, fun and friendship.

Performance from Meadowfest 2022 at the legendary Chateau Liberté prior to an outdoor screening of the film about this infamous spot in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California. The LenCat band features Len Callo, John Franks, Barry Warsaw and A.J. Leddy who also appear in the film. Song played is "Outta My Mind" from the 2013 album "Thunder On." Videography by Ryan Zweng.

W.J. McKay has never been a live performer or in a live band. This is the only video of him playing live in existence. (for better or worse : - ) McKay's many original music recording and video projects include Acid Dub with Len Callo and Ryan Zweng, as well as other collaborations and solo projects including Goth Mountain (Rock), Step SiSter (Chillstep), Steam Nation (Steampunk), and EDM music as W.J. McKay. When he isn't making music, McKay produces conservation videos and often narrates the short films for his NGO clients.

Callo and McKay met George Rabe while shooting the film and they all became friends. Rabe salvaged the crumbling historic lodge in the 1990's and lives there now. Rabe allowed Callo and McKay to hold the Meadowfest event on these hallowed grounds where Jerry Garcia lived and played, and the Doobie Brothers got their start.
