Editing your PS5 profile is a great way to personalize your presence on the PlayStation Network. You can change your profile picture, online ID, background image, and the "About Me" description. All of these options are found in the same place.

Here is the best method to edit your profile on your PS5 account:

Go to your Profile: From the PS5 home screen, navigate to the top right corner and select your profile picture icon. A menu will drop down.

Select Profile: Choose Profile from the dropdown menu.

Go to Edit Profile: Once on your profile page, scroll over to the right and select Edit Profile (it looks like a pencil icon).

From the "Edit Profile" menu, you can change the following:

Online ID: This is your PlayStation Network username. Your first change is free, but subsequent changes may have a fee.


Real Name: You can change the real name associated with your account.

Profile Picture: Choose an avatar from the PlayStation collection or, if you have set up a custom picture on the PlayStation App, you can select that as well.

Cover Image (Profile Background): This is the large background image on your profile page. You can choose from various pre-selected images or, most notably, a screenshot you have taken on your PS5.

About: This is a brief description about you that other players can see. You can type in a custom message or even record a short voice message to be transcribed.

To change your Profile Picture to a custom image:

While you can change to a variety of pre-set avatars directly on the PS5, the most reliable way to use a custom image is through the PlayStation App on your phone or tablet.

Open the PlayStation App on your mobile device.

Tap your profile picture in the top left corner.

Select Edit Profile.

Choose Profile Picture and then Change Picture.

Upload the image you want to use from your phone's gallery.
