This used to be my playground.

This was our escape from a housing scheme on the outskirts of Glasgow.

This is where we came to breathe, to camp, fish and swim in the fresh peaty waters of Loch Lomond.

The tenement blocks replaced by magnificent oakwood and conifers planted up to 400 years ago to provide wood for tanning and smelting.

The busy roads replaced by winding footpaths through the forrest and over the mountains.

When I visit Scotland I return to this place and it fills me with something I never realised I missed. I fills me with memories of a life now changed by age and location. Changed by life's storms and the glorious victories it throws at you.

One thing remains constant. When I'm here, it feels like HOME.




Rowardennan is a small, picturesque village on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, best known as the starting point for climbing Ben Lomond. Nestled in the magnificent Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, it serves as a base for walkers on the West Highland Way and offers numerous outdoor activities.

Ben Lomond is Scotland's most southerly Munro, a prominent mountain (974m) on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, popular for its accessible location and stunning views within the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. It's a well-loved landmark and a central feature of the landscape, managed by the National Trust for Scotland, offering exhilarating walking and a well-maintained path to its summit.
