Session Details: "Improving the Effectiveness and Scalability of Digital Mental Health Through Precision and Personalization"
Digital therapeutics are needed to expand access to evidence-based interventions for the prevention and treatment of mental health problems. However, much work remains to ensure that these treatments are engaging and effective. Precision approaches can help patients receive the right interventions at the right time, and personalization approaches can tailor therapeutic content to the user. In this symposium, seven leading digital mental health researchers will present their work in the areas of digital therapeutics, digital phenotyping, and dissemination and implementation of digital therapies. They will discuss how they are working to move beyond the “one size fits all” approach to treatment, by using AI to tailor messages and deep learning to develop generative chatbots; they will discuss how novel data from wearables and mobile devices can be used to track and adapt digital interventions including behavioral activation, cognitive therapy, and prolonged exposure; and they will review unique challenges they have encountered developing web- and smartphone-based therapies across a variety of disorders, settings and populations.
