THIS was a really fun explore and it was on the way back from a rock I had checked out in the Worcester hills earlier in the day so I just had to stop & check it out. Loooved going to the drive in as a kid and I have passed by this decaying drive in many times in my travels so it was time to stop in.

Sitting in decay for nearly 22 years...Welcome to The Sutton Drive In.

Originally opened in 1947, the Sutton Motor-In is a drive-in located on the main highway between Worcester, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island. It closed in 1996. The Town of Sutton forced the cinema to close. The reason given was that it increased the traffic on the main road beyond a safe limit. Though the owners went through many court sessions in an attempt to reopen the Motor-In, it wasn't in the cards. The 10-acre property is thickly overgrown and is being reclaimed by nature giving the place a “haunted look”.
The property has been up for sale for many years and probably will for years to come as it sits on a very congested stretch of road on rt. 146.
