What is a router?
Without a router, your devices wouldn’t be able to access the internet. It’s as simple as that.

Your router allows the devices in your home network to all share one internet connection between your home and your internet service provider (ISP). It does this by providing two different ways for your devices to connect to the internet:
-WiFi: Most people connect their devices to the internet wirelessly using WiFi. WiFi is provided to your home network from your router. Your router is able to broadcast WiFi signals out of its antennas, which your devices can use to send and receive data from the internet.

-Ethernet: Most routers will also come with four ethernet ports so you can provide wired internet connections to devices that require internet connections with little delay. By connecting a device and router directly with an ethernet cable, you’ll get the best possible connection to the internet that your router can provide

Without a router, you wouldn’t be able to connect multiple devices to the internet at the same time. There are other security reasons for not connecting to the internet without a router, but the bottom line is you need a router in your home network if you want to connect to the internet.
