Pretty much an annual trip these last few years, this was my 9th trip to this little climber's hut at the base of Mt. Colin. in Jasper's Colin Range.

This Hut is operated and maintained by The Alpine Club of Canada and was built by the Alpine Club in 1967. It is booked through the Alpine Club (30$ members 40 non ) It is quite small and quaint, and a tough hike to get there. This is a climber's hut and trail, it is unmaintained. There is some exposure along the canyon on the hike in, just a couple of steps but exposure nevertheless. It's not your average hiking trail. The first 7km is along the overlander trail, which is a well used biking hiking trail running along the Athabasca River from the Maligne river to Morrow Peak. from there the elevation gain from the valley bottom to the hut is around 1000m it's a steep tough hike but worth every painful step. The hut is situated in a hanging valley in a forest at the base of Mt.Colin. The peak towers above the hut to the West. The little valley is cool to explore, but the hiking and scrambling options are limited. This is a climber's area more than anything. However, it is a very peaceful and special place and the hut has quite a romantic charm to it. I absolutely love it.
