Creep Feeding Experiment: Comparing 6 different feed types

Описание к видео Creep Feeding Experiment: Comparing 6 different feed types

Ever wondered what feed you should be using to get the best results from Creep Feeding?

So have we!   We have decided to run our own experiment at the Advantage Feeders Farm in Burrumbeet, VIC.

We have set up 8 separate paddocks, each with about 55 ewes and 95 lambs. All lambs were tagged and weighed at marking. Each paddock has a feeder in it allocated for the ewes to supplement them for 2 weeks. This will help the ewes lactate and train the lambs to eat from the feeders set up for creep feeding.
2 paddocks have no allocated creep feeder for lambs, so they will only be receiving what little grain they get from the feeders in the paddock for the ewes.

Group 1 will be creep fed cracked wheat
Group 2 will be creep fed whole wheat
Group 3 will be creep fed Commercial Mix 1
Group 4 will be creep fed Commercial Mix 2
Group 5 will be creep fed 50% whole wheat, 50% Lamb finishing pellets
Group 6 will be creep fed 80% cracked wheat, 20% high protein pellet

After 40 days, we will bring them all back in to the yards to weigh the lambs and find out the results from the first half of the trial.

Watch our video to gain more of any understanding of the pros and cons of each feed type.
