As Bihar goes to the polls, migrant workers from across India are returning home, not just to vote, but to demand change.

In Samastipur and Buxar, returning workers say they want the next government to create jobs within Bihar so they don’t have to migrate to other states for work. While political parties, from the NDA and Mahagathbandhan to Jan Suraaj, have promised employment generation, voters remain uncertain if those assurances will finally be fulfilled.

With over 240 constituencies voting in two phases, employment has emerged as the central issue driving Bihar’s migrant population to the polling booths.
