Johan Neeskens's goal and 2 assists helped Netherlands to secure a 3:0 victory against Poland — and a place in the 1976 Euros quarter-finals. It was a key fixture — both sides ended up on 8 points in the group with Dutch going through on a superior goal-difference. Poland was a very tough side at the time, featuring the likes of Grzegorz Lato, Kazimierz Deyna and Władysław Żmuda; in their previous encounter they've beat Netherlands 4:1 — and just a year ago they finished 3rd in the 1974 World Cup (where Dutch lost to West Germany in the infamous final).

Netherlands, with Cruyff, Krol, Neeskens, Rensenbrink and van Hanegem, would lose to Czechoslovakia in the semi-finals of those Euros and settle for 3rd place.
