Metaplanet just performed the most unhinged corporate surgery in Japan’s history and somehow lived to brag about it. They didn’t “restructure” anything. They walked into the boardroom with a sledgehammer, slapped the old capital stack into the floor, and replaced it with two preferred share classes engineered to vaporize fiat like an industrial accident.

Class A (MARS) is the institutional pacifier. Class B (MERCURY) is the perpetual convertible death machine raising capital at 4.9% so they can buy Bitcoin like they’re trying to speedrun the national reserves of small countries.

They even nuked their MSW dilution from orbit, doubled their authorized shares, rewrote their Articles of Incorporation, and told the legacy financial world to cope harder.

And here’s the kicker:

Metaplanet’s cost of capital is so cheap they could literally buy STRC, pay their own dividend with less than half the STRC yield, and still have money left over to accumulate Bitcoin for free.

This is the type of corporate arbitrage that keeps central bankers awake at night.
