Monteverdi and Ariadne's harp | Invernizzi & Koell · MarchVivo

During the Baroque, the harp consolidated a complex system for reproducing diatonic and chromatic sounds; it was known as the harp doppia a due o tre registri. This novelty enhanced its flexibility to accompany singing and stimulated its use in some of the most beautiful works of the seventeenth century by renowned composers such as Monteverdi, Storace or Kapsberger.
