now this is another view from the back of meltham church from down up the side of the main roads in meltham town in west yorkshire another tune playing on the second barrel drum 2 but it wasnt coming through the rye no the second friday eve this was done when they had finished and put a nice brand new carillon machine to play over meltham every day 4 times a day yes derby cathedral carillon one only plays 3 times a day 9am 12noon long break afternoon no 3pm tunes not here last one 6pm on all 10 bells selby abbey has one as well which plays 6am 9am 12noon 3pm 6pm 9pm each tune is repeated 3 times every day yes sunday is we love this place o god monday blest pure in heart tuesday thy way not mine o lord wedsnday is sicilian mariners thursday is thro the night of doubt and sorrow friday god moves in a mysterious way saturday o help us lord sunday we love the place o god thats all the selby abbeys carillon machine plays on the back 8 bells only has 7 tunes theres one at holebeach all saints which has 9 tunes georgan tunes now some other churches with a carillon machine can play at 8am 12noon 4pm 8pm middnight like the one at tickhill st marys church south yorkshire past wadworth village a little church with 4 bells only unringable 4 tickhill is heading towards blyth and carton in lindrick villages carton in lindrick has 3 bells only another unringable 3 bells but a nice loveley church saxion stone with 2 black gold clock faces 1 on the south side one on the north side there is another carillon machine at st modwines church which repeats 5 times 7 tunes the carillon plays at 9am 12 noon 4pm 6pm burton apon trent then theres one at melton mowbray st marys church with 10 bells 7 tunes but only plays twice a day 9am 12noon only the tunes keep missing notes then there is another carillon at utoxiter st marys church with 7 tunes plays at 9am 12noon 3pm 6pm in leistershire then there is one at leek st edwards church with 10bells 14 tunes only has 1 clock face the tunes play at 9am 12noon 4pm 8pm then theres one at todmorden unertarian church with 4 tunes which isnt often used its in such a bad state by stuart mills bellringer then theres another carillon machine at little hooton pagnell all saints church in south yorkshire of doncaster uk plays at 9am 12noon 3pm 6pm 9pm eve 7 tunes only then there is one at newport pagnell st peters st pauls church near milton keynes which has a 22cwt 8 bells there now the carillon has 2 music drum boxes with 14 tunes on ok 7 for one week 7 for week 2 there is a carillon keyboard at boston stump in lincolnshire which plays tunes on 15 hung dead bells and the other 10bells are full circle only and uses the 5 bells to chime the hours quarters no clock faces outside sorry it is right right up a long long way in the ringing clock room and is the tallest tower in lincolnshire this is st boltolps church i am talking about yes near spalding then holbeach then there is a brand new keyboard carillon at taunton st mary magdlins church in somerset with 15 bells no clock faces outside again hasnt got no clock faces problaby didnt have enough money to make one or maby used clock chimes by the day morning afternoon dark before watches were even made over hundreds years ago people just could only tell what time it was by hearing the church clock chimes with out the clock faces so they had to gess in those olden days this was before wall clocks even were made people would live in a town or city and hear the church clocks chiming to say what time it was before watches were even brought out or they even used a sun dials to tell the time by when the sun comes out or when it was getting darker to go to bed and when the sun hits the sun dials in the morning then people would get up to have breakfast ho this is a long long long time ago i want even born not any of us were around not in those days no now you all understand the story about the time being totaly diffrent with out a wall clock or a watch you just had to hear the church chime to gess what hours quarters it was they just used the machanisums to put in the towers to wind up the clock inside big ben wasnt built then dont think so no like lincoln cathedral has got 5 bells which chime out every hour quarters but again no clock face dials outside 4 smaller bells for the full westminster chiming the big bell is 5 tons great tom which strikes out every hour on the hour this isnt a tenor bell its a clock bell as a bourdon bell same as worcester cathedral which has got on it a big wooden metal square head stock like a oblong shape to it the bourdon bell strikes the hours its about 3 tons i think not sure i will find out ok there is 15 bells there but only 12 are rung in full circle at a time yes it has quarters chimes on 4 smaller bells but no clock faces on no now there is a spire church just down the road all saints with only 1 bell in it its a dissused damaged church just the bell tower standing
