Manon Meurt are a four-piece formation originating in the small town of Rakovník, a place discreetly nestled in the remote hills west of Prague. The core sound of Manon is a combination of 90s British shoegaze with dream pop, matured by the band into effortlessly carrying melodies and hallmarked by a pair of gentle, fuzzy guy/girl vocals. Like lovers parting for the last time in the misty morning streets of Prague, Manon Meurt’s music is melancholic and torn but joyfully intoxicated with glowing horizons that lie ahead.

For years, the four high school friends Vojta Pejsa, Katie Elznicova, Jirka Bendl and Sima Kucharova (later substituted by another Rakovnik native Jana Karlikova) were involved in various local music projects spanning numerous styles, before the captivation with the 90s classics such as My Bloody Valentine, Lush, Ride and Slowdive finally brought them together in 2012 as Manon Meurt. While these influences are still unmistakably dominant in their sound, the band have managed to strike a chord with shoegaze fans who want to see the genre not just alive but fresh and evolving. Manon blends beautiful vocals, including a deeply buried gorgeous male backing vocal, with a rush of reverb-laden guitars and a drumming style that can be as light as a summer day or intense, but always strikingly patient.

The four-piece have played alongside The Raveonettes, The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, LSD and the Search for God, and My Bloody Valentine. They can be seen throughout the year at little gigs, big gigs, festivals or just about any friendly music do, mostly in the Czech Republic, but frequently elsewhere in Europe. In 2013 they released a self-titled album and are currently doing the final touches on the next piece.
