Gattian lake trekking from #rattigali base camp
Scary and too hard track in the valley of death.
Trekking to #Gattian lake is breath taking as well as life threatening. We left base camp of #rattigali lake at 0630 hrs in the morning. Horses dropped us at a point after two hrs beyond where the horses can't hike, so we started trekking. About after 2 hrs of laborious and lovely trekking, we reached at a mountain pass named "Gali" with a thought to have a view of gattian lake from pass but to our surprise, there was no lake on the other side. We the three friends were nearly disappointed and two of us decided to give up here because the trekking ahead was seemingly too dangerous and difficult with a slope of around 75 degrees with rocks and stones all around. It was a valley of death when we looked from elevation. I with the guide "Bilal" decided to descent in this valley of death. After descending a wall of around 500~600 feet, there was a huge glacier to walk over. After slipping once, each step was taken very carefully. Glacier ended but the trekking ahead was very dangerous with 1000s of feet down at one side and there was merely a space to fix the foot steps. With all these threats, we continued and reached a point where I could have a complete view of the lake. Aah, it was so beautiful. We kept sitting there for half an hr and left. At the mountain pass on return, weather was too cold and my friends have gone back .
We were charged 800 rupees each for the horses. After all this trekking, I managed to come back to ratti gali base camp at 1400 hrs.
