The United Rugby Championship has just kicked off its fourth season, and on social media I have been among a sizeable group of fans to share the catchphrase “URC is the Best League”. Since we started saying that before a ball was even kicked, and given there are also some fans, especially from one of the five nations in particular, who were saying the exact opposite before a ball was even kicked, what can we actually say about it based on the evidence of the past three campaigns?
