QuakeWrap fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) is used to repair a timber utility pole located in Tucson, Arizona. Several field and laboratory tests led Tucson Eletric Power to select Professor Ehsani's patented system, PileMedic, to strengthen the pole. The deteriorated pole was strengthened to meet the strength of a new steel pole. The repairs were completed in 3 days with no disruption of service.

Several steps were required in order to prepare for this repair including using a jib truck to secure the pole and vacuuming out surrounding soil.

Once the repair was completed using PileMedic laminate carbon strips, QuakeBond resin, and biaxial glass fabric, the pole was painted brown to match its original color.

Nine years later and the pole still remains in perfect condition, in spite of the extreme sun exposure!
