Описание к видео MESCAL MOVIE SET, The home of Old West Movies!

Nestled in the high desert plains of Southeast Arizona, with the rugged Rincon Mountains as its backdrop, the Mescal Movie Set has a storied history spanning over seven decades. This iconic western town, originally built in the late 1960s for the film Monte Walsh starring Lee Marvin and Jack Palance, has witnessed the filming of many legendary movies. Its dusty streets have been featured in classics like "Winchester 73"with James Stewart, "The Big Country" with Gregory Peck, and "Cimarron" with Glenn Ford. The set became a symbol of the fading cowboy era, as depicted in "Monte Walsh", where a veteran cowboy faces the end of an era he cherishes.

Over the years, the Mescal set continued to attract Hollywood heavyweights. From "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean" with Paul Newman to "The Outlaw Josey Wales" with Clint Eastwood, and "Tom Horn" with Steve McQueen, the set has seen it all. The 1990s brought the monumental success of "Tombstone", starring Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer, which remains one of the most quoted westerns of all time. "The Quick and the Dead", featuring Sharon Stone and Russell Crowe, also utilized the set, along with "Stagecoach*"(1986) featuring country music legends like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. Even TV movies such as "The Gambler" with Kenny Rogers filmed scenes here.

In addition to films, Mescal became a key location for many popular western TV shows, including "Bonanza" "Gunsmoke", and "Little House on the Prairie", and was the backdrop for "The Young Riders". Iconic TV movies like "The Sacketts", "Maverick", and "Buffalo Soldiers" also utilized the set.

As of February 2021, the Mescal Movie Set became an independent entity, no longer under the ownership of Old Tucson Studios. Now under the stewardship of Kartchner Ventures, it is being revitalized to reclaim its place as a beloved western landmark. With a new vision and renewed purpose, Mescal is poised to become an even bigger draw for both film enthusiasts and visitors alike, celebrating its rich cinematic heritage and bringing the magic of the silver screen back to Southern Arizona.
