We got a new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer today in the Pokemon Direct presentation, and it gave us a whole lot of new information about the games, including some brand new Pokemon, new gym leaders, and more information about the first ever Open World Pokemon Games!

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be the first completely Open World Pokemon Games on the Nintendo Switch, where you will be able to explore the vast region of Paldea with friends, and you can travel anywhere, regardless of your progress in the game's main story campaign. This also means that you will be able to take on the gym leaders of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in any order you choose, however, it is possible that the gym leaders' levels will NOT scale, meaning that you can challenge the gym leaders in any order, but you may not be able to defeat them if their Pokemons' levels are too high.

We are not sure yet whether wild Pokemon's levels will scale over the course of the game, like in the Wild Area of Pokemon Sword and Shield, or if every Pokemon within each portion of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's open world will have fixed levels, meaning that some areas will have higher level Pokemon than others. Either way, I am excited for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to release worldwide on the Nintendo Switch on November 18th, 2022.
