Severe thunderstorms have brought heavy downpours, hail, and flooding to northern France.

The Ile-de-France region around Paris was hit by winds of up to 137 km/h over the weekend.

Footage published on social media shows the extent of the flooding caused by the torrent.

South of Paris there were reports of injuries, power cuts, and roads blocked by downed trees.

The department of Val-de-Marne was hardest hit prompting authorities to issue storm warnings.

The worst of the damage was seen in Alfortville, where a roof was torn off a building
