7. SOUNDBITE: (English) Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Denmark's Prime Minister:
"It's clearly the case that a government, politicians, have to set very clear ground rules which are long term and that gives the companies, the enterprises the opportunity to actually make great new solutions, greener solutions and, in that way, companies and enterprises become a partner in the green transition. This is why we should work together in achieving our goals in forming a future of a green transition."

9. SOUNDBITE: (English) Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Group founder:
"I'm here lobbying to get rid of all subsidies for dirty fuels. I will also, as a businessman, suffer from that because we have airlines. But I still think, for the sake of the world, that it is incredibly important (that) all subsidies disappear, all trillion dollars worth subsidies disappear, and that money goes into coming up with clean fuels, so planes can fly on clean fuels in the future that do not pollute the environment. I really believe that can be possible."

STORYLINE:
The inaugural World Green Summit took place on Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro coinciding with the start of the Riot+20, the United Nations conference on sustainable development.

Branson said that he became involved with the World Green Summit to defend the end of subsidies for "dirty fuels."
"It is incredibly important (that) all subsidies disappear, all trillion dollars worth subsidies disappear, and that money goes into coming up with clean fuels, so planes can fly on clean fuels in the future that do not pollute the environment," he said.
