Working Voices from Castleford: Smawthorne and Glasshoughton is a 1992 collection of stories about work and life in the Smawthorne and Glasshoughton areas of Castleford, West Yorkshire.

The stories were submitted by locals and edited into one volume by Steve Davenport as part of a community development programme relating to a housing renewal scheme.

Castleford is part of the City of Wakefield district and lies about 10 miles away from Leeds. Its population has boomed at various points in history, fuelled by local industries such as the mining, pottery and the glass industries.

These stories offer a glimpse into work and ways of life that are quickly becoming faint memories of the past.
