In India, the National Family Health Survey-5 reveals a staggering statistic: one in three women has faced gender-based violence. Unfortunately, many women remain trapped in this cycle due to a lack of knowledge, financial independence, or social support. Shockingly, only 14% of women who have experienced physical or sexual violence seek help.

To combat this, the Government of India launched the Sakhi One Stop Centre (OSC) Scheme under the Nirbhaya Fund in 2015, integrated into Mission Shakti. Currently, 733 OSCs operate nationwide, providing essential services 24/7 to help survivors rebuild their lives. These services include emergency response, medical assistance, counselling, legal aid, shelter, and more.
