Which Mech should I buy first? The Best Beginner Mechs for Mechwarrior Online

Today I want to give you some help to decide which Mech you should buy first in Mechwarrior Online. The decision is of course depends on your individual playstyle but there are some key factors that help new players getting a better start in the game.

First of all you should choose a Mech with a decent mobility. One of the biggest factors in MWO is positioning yourself relatively to the enemy. If you choose an Assault Mech as your first one you will probably find yourself cought off-guard a lot of times. Also, a good amount of speed helps you learning the maps.

Secondly you should look for a good amount of armor. The Quick Play mode of MWO does not have a respawn. That means once your Mech gets destroyed you are out of the game until it is over. It can be really frustrating getting killed early on and having to wait until your Mech gets released from the game.

And last but not least: versatility. I highly recommend buying a Mech that has a certain specialty but is also able to carry some different loadouts so that you can play around with it whithout having the need to buy multiple Mechs for different playstyles. Omnimechs are very good for this purpose because you can just swap out the Omnipods and suddenly have acces to many different weapon hardpoints.

As you might tell I only recommend on defensive criterias here. I believe that you should focus on that before you try do dish out enormous damage numbers. Work on your survivability skills first before you estendthe gameplay and go for the kills. Just try to stay alive and the damage will increase over time.

So what are the best beginner Mechs in Mechwarrior Online?
I would say something in the weight class between 50 to 75 tons.
