CAG Report Exposes Shocking Financial Gaps in Himachal!

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report has revealed some startling facts about Himachal Pradesh's economy, raising serious concerns about the state’s financial management. According to the report, the government has failed to provide utilization certificates for ₹2,795 crore, meaning there is no clear record of where and how this money was spent.

Similarly, during the 2023 disaster relief efforts, ₹1,239 crore was used, out of which ₹1,190 crore came from the central government - but the spending details remain unclear.

Adding to the financial strain, the government invested ₹5,524 crore in bonds and equity, but the returns have been minimal, and a large portion of the money is stuck. The CAG has further warned that the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) will severely impact Himachal’s financial health, urging the government to shift focus toward increasing revenue rather than making risky investments.
