A recent UN study in the use of recreational drugs showed that 40% of Australians had used recreational drugs at some point in the past.

With such a large percentage of people having tried recreational drugs, it is essential to understand how the insurance companies would treat your insurance application if you are one of the 40%.

Firstly, I discuss the duty of disclosure that applies to your insurance application. This is a fancy word for needing you to be honest with your answer to any insurance applications.

Secondly, there are three different levels or classes of drugs in the eyes of the insurance company. Each type of drug has a different potential outcome.

Thirdly, I share with you how each of these classes is assessed, the key things the insurance companies will ask, the way that they will determine your overall medical position and the 3 scenarios in which they will come back to you with a decision.
