Heavy rains have threatened old buildings and residences in Mount Abu in Rajasthan, India.

Hill station Mount Abu received the highest 450 mm rainfall in the state on Monday. It was also the highest rainfall in Mount Abu in the last 23 years.

Meanwhile, heavy showers continued to lash most parts of the state. The meteorological office has further predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. The momentum of the south-west monsoon will continue across the state for the next couple of days.

Mount Abu witnessed a day-long rainfall and till the evening, it recorded 450 mm rainfall.

It was followed by 240 mm rainfall in Aburoad (Sirohi), 210 mm in Reodhar (Sirohi), 190 mm in Arthuna (Banswara), 120 mm in Galiakot (Sirohi), 110 mm each in Danpur (Banswara), Bijolia (Bhilwara), Nayannagar and Bhansiorgarh, 100 mm each in Sheoganj (Sirohi), Chikali (Chittorgarh) and Kesarpura (Banswara), 90 mm each in Pindwara (Sirohi), Kanwan (Dungarpur), Bagidora (Banswara) and Kumbhalgarh, while Dhambola (Dungarpur) and Sajjangarh (Banswara) each recorded 80 mm rainfall. Many places in Jalore, Pali, Jodhpur and Barmer received a rainfall varying from 70 mm to 10 mm.

Though the water level started receding in the evening, many tourists in Mount Abu remained stranded. Many roads leading to nearby towns including Diwara got badly damaged due to high-intensity rainfall.

Moderate showers (30 mm) were also witnessed in Jaipur in the wee hours on Monday. The weather was mainly pleasant in the Pink City.

The continuous rainfall across the state has also guided the mercury to take a dip as a minimum temperature slumped to 22.5 degrees Celsius in the city.
