MaximsNewsNetwork: 25 August 2013: UNTV: Chungju City, Republic of Korea - It was an official trip to the Republic of Korea for United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, but on Sunday he had a chance to revisit some childhood memories. Ban Ki-moon arrived at his birthplace in Chungju city to a hero's welcome, where he paid his respects at his father's tomb and then reminisced about the house where he spent his early years.

Ban Ki-moon toured a museum built in his honour and then on to the city centre, where he saw for the first time, the newly rebuilt house where he grew up.

The boy who once knocked a candle over after he fell sleep while studying for exams, would one day become Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Ban Ki-moon also inspired about 500 Korean students at the Chungju middle and high schools during his visit, telling them they need to have both passion and compassion in order to grow up as a balanced human being.
