It's commonly known in the "DSLR-scanning" world that you need a light source with a high colour rendering index (CRI) to furnish a high quality scan. This scanning method trades the absolute purity of result of an RGB scanner for flexibility and to an extent, speed, but CRI isn't the only relevant factor. In this video I have a look at the importance of the light source's colour temperature/white balance, and how that affects the accuracy of a scan, even when CRI is decreased.
