Drawing on traditional design elements, the high-collared qipao dress originated in Shanghai around a century ago, but disappeared after the Communist Party took power in 1949. It's now making a comeback - due in part to producers like Zhou Zhuguang who is co-founder of Hanart, one of China's most well-known qipao makers.
