Our spring barley variety trials updates are back for 2023!

This week we're back at our spring barley trials site at Beal Farm in Northumberland looking at how the crops have established after they began to emerge a few weeks prior.

In the second update of the growing season, Agrochemical & Technical Director David Cairns chats about the good establishment of the barley - despite the late start and somewhat challenging weather conditions, post-drilling cultivation and highlights a few early strong performing varieties.

David also talks about bio-stimulant seed treatments, and how we will be looking to measure their impact in the next update video.

At MSP, more than 300,000 tonnes of the UK’s finest two-row barley is procured each year from farming partners across England and Scotland. Each farmer’s crop is fully traceable, guaranteeing the provenance of each malt from grain to glass.
