The History of the Tibetan Terrier.
Appropriately nicknamed the “Sacred Dog of Tibet”, the Tibetan Terrier originated thousands of years ago in the high Tibetan mountains. We attributed to him the virtues of a lucky charm and we liked his qualities as a watchdog and a shepherd dog. Already at the time, his good character made him a recognized companion. In 1922, Dr. Greig, a Briton, was offered a female calf after saving the life of a patient. Charmed, she adopted a male and took the couple to Europe where she began breeding them.

The Tibetan Terrier probably contributed to the creation of several other Asian breeds. He is now very popular as a companion dog in Europe.

Several colors are accepted, as well as the pluricolor and the tricolor.

A Tibetan Terrier can be white, golden, cream, grey, smoked or black, but chocolate and liver colors are excluded. Gold is the rarest color allowed.

The physique of the Tibetan Terrier.
The Tibetan Terrier is a medium sized dog. He is vigorous, with a muscular and compact body and square proportions. The round head is well proportioned to the body. The stop is marked but soft. Her V-shaped ears appear larger than they are as they wear heavy bangs that frame the face. The well-developed lower jaw and the round, dark eyes give it a lively and expressive look.

The limbs are straight and muscular and the tail is carried strongly curved over the back.

The Tibetan Terrier is unique for its round and flat feet which serve as slippers for walking in the snow where it is very comfortable.

The character of the Tibetan Terrier.
Highly intelligent, the Tibetan Terrier understands his environment very well and knows how to adapt his attitude according to the situation. This makes it a very good guard dog with measured barking. His above-average intelligence makes him somewhat stubborn. It is better to be firm and subtle in your education !
