The Gujarat Assembly election schedule is expected to be released by the Election Commission on Thursday. The election body will hold a press conference in New Delhi at noon. The election panel had announced the date for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections earlier this month. The hill state will hold its election on November 12 with the results being announced on December 8. The EC made it clear when establishing the Himachal election schedule that Gujarat and Himachal results would be announced on December 8 together. The Gujarat Assembly's current term expires on February 18 next year. The Congress had performed better than it had in decades in the 2017 state elections, which had hurt the BJP's results. However, the ruling party was still able to hold onto power.
