The X3 is my first large-diaphragm condenser microphone, and I wasn't super sure how to use it. I ended up putting it around a foot (~30cm) diagonal-right above the bridge (thanks ‪@pi4music‬ for the advice). I didn't do any compression/eq on the audio (only a bit of tuning and reverb), so hopefully what you hear is true to both my and the mic's performance. :)

Story time:

I started playing the violin approximately 15 years ago. I used to be pretty decent at it, but around 5 years ago I started getting pretty bad pain in my left arm and wrist when playing, which turned out to be tendonitis (which isn't even my only time getting tendonitis, but those are stories for another time). I remember telling myself I'd "take it easy," but I stupidly pushed through it for the next 2 years (then COVID happened, and time stood still). Even though I basically haven't played since 2020, now my wrist/arm get tension and pain pretty easily. I definitely know what it's like to destroy yourself because of art.

Listening to Will & Miyolophone's lyrics, I felt really inspired to pick up the instrument that caused me so much joy and pain in my childhood. I can't play as well as I did back then (my numerous mistakes are probably really obvious to most people with a sense of pitch), but I still hope you enjoyed.
