Initial overview of using an Automation Direct C-More HMI to talk to a Modicon Compact 984 PLC using Modbus RTU over RS232.

These Modicon PLCs are aging, and so are their HMIs, which create a lot of heat and take a beating (because they are touch screens that get touched a lot, sometimes with a lot of force!).

I have been looking around for options to lifeboat these Modicon PLCs along and these C-More HMIs have a good price point and seem robust enough.

Here's to a chance at a Modicon HMI upgrade in 2020!
