▶Abstract: Quantum networks providing shared entanglement over a mesh of quantum nodes will revolutionize the field of quantum information science by offering novel applications in quantum computation, enhanced precision in networks of sensors and clocks, and efficient quantum communication over large distances. To realize this vision, scalable, coherent processing nodes need to be integrated with photonic interfaces. Recently, neutral atom arrays have emerged as a highly promising platform for quantum processors. Here, we present how such atom arrays can be integrated with photonic chips, hosting arrays of nano-photonic crystal cavities. The cavities operate at telecom wavelength, and we have developed a protocol that generates atom-photon entanglement at this wavelength for long-distance entanglement distribution. We demonstrate atom trapping, rearrangement, and control in close proximity to the chip. Importantly, we demonstrate a bichromatic, background-free imaging technique that avoids laser scattering from the devices.
Furthermore, we will discuss recent progress on quantum information processing in a dual-species Rydberg array. In such an array one atomic species can be used as the communication qubit and the other as the inner-node processing qubit.
