Dr LWAZI LUSHABA's LECTURE: THE PITFALLS OF NATIONALISM

Описание к видео Dr LWAZI LUSHABA's LECTURE: THE PITFALLS OF NATIONALISM

This lecture by South African revolutionary scholar Dr Lwazi Lushaba titled The Pitfalls of Nationalism is a reflection of on our acclaimed theatre production Khongolose Khommanding Khomissars during our season at The Market Theatre

Khongolose Khommanding Khommissars (KKK) is a peep through the keyholes into the living rooms of pot-bellied men as they plot to hog state resources, all while preparing mispronounced speeches to the poor. None of us are safe! This epic satire closely looks at the conspicuous interactions and not entirely lawful activities of our modern day South African political camaraderie - Comrades. It dissects the deliberate manner that these dealings between politicians and businessmen contribute to South Africa’s chaotic political dispensation, the continued spread of elitist greed culture through corruption, using the game of words, “Comrade- speak”, to repeatedly promise the farce of a socio-political revolution to us. KKK is directed by the 2022 Standard Bank Young Artists, the Theatre Duo - Billy Langa and Mahlatsi Mokgonyana. Their emblematic approach to storytelling through their intrinsic incorporation of text and movement makes this production an absolute “must-see”. Don’t miss out on this collaboration between three Standard Bank Young Artists - the Theatre Duo and playwright J Bobs Tshabalala (SBYA2020).
