New photos of jazz musicians stopping by Marseille have been rediscovered thanks to the image collection of Jimmy Reynaud who, in the 1940s and 1950s, as a member of the Hot Club of Marseille, took photos of American musicians: Ellington, Bechet, Armstrong, James Moody etc.
Among the most active members, there was in the Marseille of the 50s, Paul Mansi pillar of the Hot Club of Marseille, animator, double bass player and entrepreneur. His heirs suffered after his hasty exile in 1953 in south america.
Marcel Zanini was , until his passing a few month ago aged 99 the last great living hero of this era.
