Ducati Paul Smart 1000 LE and the man behind the Story
Paul Smart was a British born motorcycle racer that raced for numerous factories as a factory rider. Factories such as Norton, Ducati, Suzuki and Kawasaki. Paul also raced during a very interesting era, 60's and 70's , during the demise of four-strokes and emergence of the very evil handling two-strokes, as well as the decline in dominance of the British manufacturers and the conquering Japanese bikes and finally also when the racing scene changed from road tyres to slick racing tyres. Paul also raced on street circuits such as the infamous Isle Of Man TT, where he podiumed a couple of times, and on short circuits around the world, making him an extremely accomplished allrounder.
However Paul Smarts most iconic win came in the famous Imola 200 of 1972, which made him a legend in the history of Ducati and the first winner of the Ducati 90 degree L twin bevel drive, desmodromic valve motor of the modern era and in such Ducati's first Superbike winner.
