Panchamrut
Panchamrit (or Panchamrut) is made across many parts of India, especially during Janmashtami, Satyanarayan Pooja, Nag panchami and deity abhishek. Panchamrut = Charnamrit (Charan - feet, amrit - nectar) That is, nectar from the feet of deity after we use it for abhishekam. It is consumed by devotees as prasad after abhishek.

There are two main versions of the sacred nectar offerings made during Hindu rituals. Though they share a common essence, 5 main ingredients, the South Indian temple style Panchamirtham / Panchamrutham / Panjamirtham recipe is different from the Paal panchamrutham (Panchamrit / Charnamrit).

Why Tamil Nadu temple Panchamirtham has more than 5 elements?
Though "Pancha" means 5, the number is symbolic and apart from the 5 main ingredients, the temple style panchamrutham includes the fruits and other offerings like for example dates, figs are respectfully incorporated without wasting and distributed as prasadam. It still honours the essence of 5 sacred elements.

Ingredients
Panchamrutham
1 Banana 1 cup, sliced
4 Dates deseeded and chopped
1 tablespoon Raisin
2 tablespoon Brown sugar
1.5 tablespoon Honey
1 Cardamom
1 Edible camphor mustard size
½ tablespoon Rock Sugar candy Kalkandu
1 teaspoon Ghee
Panchamrut recipe
1 tsp Ghee
2 teaspoon Honey
4 teaspoon Rock sugar candy Mishri, crushed
8 teaspoon Curd Indian yogurt
16 teaspoon Milk

CUP MEASUREMENTS
Measurements used in all the recipes, unless otherwise specified. My cup measurements are as follows:
1 Cup = 240 ml
½ Cup = 120 ml
¼ cup = 60 ml
⅛ cup = 30 ml
1 Teaspoon teaspoon = 5 ml
1 Tablespoon (tbsp) = 3 teaspoon = 15 ml
2 Tablespoon = 30 ml = ⅛ cup
4 Tablespoon = 60 ml = ¼ cup
