Onboard an Air New Zealand airbus A321NEO for a beautiful flight from Auckland down to Queenstown. Perfect weather almost the entire journey and some incredible views. Departing Auckland with a left turn towards the coast, we fly south bound over the Tasman Sea towards the south island. Flying more of less in parallel with the west coast before passing the higher, mountainous ground including views of Mount Cook (New Zealands highest mountain) and the surrounding Glaciers, which this time of year, summer for NZ is a lake. All of that is before we begin our descent into the beautiful New Zealand Lake District and into Queenstown airport. Through the trenches, around the hills and into Queenstown, an absolutely breathtaking approach.
Service wise, was very impressed. Complimentary drink and snack on such a short flight and full IFE system on their A321. With TV’s & charging ports. Very good service. Despite the near hour delay of the departure due to an aircraft swap, this should have been an A320, not a A321.
