On 2 May, the French Embassy in Nepal organised a repatriation flight back to Europe for French and other EU citizens, and also citizens from third countries – 303 passengers in total. This brought the number of repatriation flights conducted by EU Member States to date to 9, and the total of repatriated citizens of all nationalities to more than 2,300 citizens.

The EU Delegation underlines that all of these repatriation flights, organised in response to the unprecedented pandemic the entire world is facing, have been an exercise in EU solidarity, the organising Member State taking on board other citizens to bring everyone home and leave no one behind.

This latest French flight is particularly noteworthy, in that the inbound flight carried a cargo of 3,000 PCR test kits funded by Germany which were handed over to the government of Nepal. That’s efficient teamwork from EU-Member states, and shows our solidarity not only with our EU citizens, but also with our friend and partner, Nepal, in this time of crisis.
