Why is India’s Domestic Migration Slowing? | Tier 2 & 3 Cities’ Growth Contributing To Trend?

The Prime Minister's Advisory Committee's report, titled "400 Million Dreams," reveals a significant 12% drop in domestic migration from 2011 to 2023. According to the working paper submitted to the PM, the number of domestic migrants stands at 40.2 crore, accounting for 28.8% of the population, compared to 37.64% in 2011. The decline is attributed to improved public services and economic opportunities, alongside lower numbers of non-suburban unreserved second-class passengers in 2023.
